BUG: Let Ring Markers Not Implemented Correctly

Article ID:000084
Category:Score Creation, Editing and Notation
Applies to:Power Tab Editor (1.7)
Created:10-Jan-2003
Last updated:11-Feb-2005

Bug severity:Low

Symptoms

When notating a group of let ring notes, the let ring marker does not draw correctly.

More Information

The let ring marker should extend to the first note that follows the let ring group, yet only extends to the last note in the let ring group. This may cause users to add the let ring effect to more notes than necessary, causing unwanted "bleeding" between notes and measures.

Cause

Implementation error.

Resolution

If you want the let ring effect to sound correctly, you should only add the let ring effect to the notes that are actually ringing out. For example, if you have a measure with four quarter notes, and you want the let ring effect to stop at the end of the measure, only apply the let ring effect to the 1st three quarter notes. This will cause the let ring marker to draw improperly, (the dashed line will stop at the 3rd quarter note, when it should extend to the 4th) but the sound should be correct.
