Symptoms

When importing one or more tracks from a MIDI file, you experience a large number errors stating that the note values are out of the range for the track's tuning.

Cause

Coding bug that affects format 0 MIDI files.

Resolution

Convert the MIDI file from format 0 to format 1. You can grab a format convertor called MIDI0TO1 from the following site:

If you still receive a large number of errors after converting the file to format 1, (or the file wasn't a format 0 to begin with) it may be that the instrument you're importing is transcribed too high or too low, or it requires a special tuning. What you can do in this situation is try a different tuning for the track, or try setting the import transposition value to 8va or 8va bassa. Both of these items can be changed during step 3 of the MIDI import process.
